05/21/2008 Quick update	All right, so it looks like the live action movie has officially aired in select theaters. Additionally, it aired in the manner I knew it might have; dubbed with voices from the English dub anime cast. Not exactly my ideal choice for this film, but I suppose it will get some positive results to the anime fans. Aside from that, not much news. I'll be updating the episode list when they come up, but I dunno about specifics. I did get my PlayStation 2 up and running again, so now I can watch the volume 3 DVD.
04/14/2008 Character profile updates	Well, I decided maybe I could make the profile images better, so... Each character profile will now feature a comparison image - Their manga design, anime design, and movie design. Just a simple screenshot of each in one image. You should be seeing Light's up already, and I have a few others ready to upload, but I'll wait until another time. Take care everyone.
04/14/2008 Movie info	I forgot to mention a bit of news I heard recently. On May 20th to 21st, the first Death Note movie will be showing in selected theaters in the US. Why they're only out for two days, well... I think it's so they can see how many people come by, then they'll air it in all theaters. That's just my thought, though. However, I'm not sure whether or not the movie will be airing with subtitles or if it will actually be dubbed, or if it'll just be the first movie alone or if the second movie will air the second day. Whatever the case, I'm hoping to go see it for myself.
04/13/2008 Site glitches + Major overhaul	Well, well, well... I am extremely frustrated while trying to add content to the site. Hard to explain - I created a page, I add content, save, then it acts like it never got edited. I've had to do this literally about 20 times (thank goodness I had it all on copy/paste), and finally it seems to have stayed. But, this also brings me to why I'm updating; I decided since it might be a while before I do more episode summaries, I'll just go ahead and get right into the entire series. Originally this site was intended to be strictly dedicated to the anime alone, but I figured that might be a little too strict, y'know? So instead, it'll feature info on the movies, manga, novels that may release, and so on. Hopefully I'll be able to get a lot accomplished tonight. Wish me luck!
04/04/2008 Going slow...	Yeah, it's been a while since I added episode summaries... Back in March, I was still working on a new summary when I finally got a Nintendo Wii. To put it simply, a part I needed in order to use it is one I also needed for the Play Station 2 (what I play DVD's on), so... I'm basically unable to watch DVD's for the time being. If it takes too much longer to get a new part, I suppose I can just watch the episodes online in order to give summaries. Anyway, thanks to anyone who's been patient.
03/06/2008 How To Read 13 site	Although it's not related to the anime and the site for it is progressing further than this one, I'd created a site regarding the How To Read 13 book.
03/03/2008 Volume 3 DVD	Well, after a week of waiting, I've received volume 3 of Death Note on DVD via online order. The page for it is already up, and episode summaries will come a little bit at a time!
03/02/2008 Season 1 ends	Well, it's official. Yesterday was when Cartoon Network aired the episode titled "Matsuda," which is the last of season 1. Next week, we should be seeing season 2!
02/26/2008 FBI Agents + Episode updating	Thanks to a member of a Death Note fan forum, I now have the names of all 12 FBI agents. Additionally, I've decided to only update the episode list when I can get them on DVD. Sorry to those far ahead of it so far. Volume 3 is on its way here!

02/23/2008 How To Use (Updated)	Well, I've had trouble making the "How To Use" section look decent, so I finally decided to stop wasting pages on it and put all the rules on one page. The font used is also smaller so it's easier to read.
02/22/2008 Finally back from inactivity	I've been away for a while, but have checked the site for any changes in the past couple of months. I'm sorry to those hoping for updates, I'm going to try updating more often now. I've also added a new section for the DVD's, so you can see what they feature.
12/08/2007 Change of episode updating	I've decided that I'll be updating the episode guide as the episodes air in English. Right now episode 8 is as far as it's gotten, so I'll just be doing a weekly addition for episode summaries from now on.

Task Force/Kira Investigation

Souichirou Yagami

Souichirou Yagami is chief of police, and as such makes many of the more important decisions. He also cares about what the police force members wish to do, so he listens to their concerns often. He is also of great help to Matsuda, the youngest on the force.

Touta Matsuda

Matsuda is the youngest member of the police force, and as such is not as respected for his innocence and awkwardly outspoken opinions. However, he still tries to be of help to those around him, even if he can't offer much.

Shuichi Aizawa

Aizawa may be the least trusting toward L than anyone else. He's very skeptic about L's methods and lack of trust in the police force, but even so, he believes L may be onto something as he spends time with him on the investigation.

Kanzo Mogi

Mogi is one of the more silent members of the police force. He doesn't get much chance to speak up, so there's not much I have to say here as of right now.

Hirokazu Ukita

Ukita, like Mogi, doesn't get featured much, so there's not much to say. He's one of the only members of the Kira investigation to be killed, by the Second Kira (Misa.)

Hideki Ide

Ide is part of the police force, but is not in the Kira investigation - When the rest decided on meeting L, Ide stayed with headquarters because he didn't want to trust L, someone that has not trusted the police or anyone enough to show himself in person.

A Guide to the Gods of Death

Shinigami are the Gods of Death, grim reapers to the human world. Their complete characteristics are not revealed, but this is a guide to what we see and should give some idea to what the entire Shinigami world is like.

Basic Idea

The Shinigami, or 'Death Gods', are creatures who bring death to humans when their time has come. They are generally dark looking humanoids who cannot be seen by humans unless the human touches their Death Note, which they use to write peoples names down in order to kill them.

Known Shinigami
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

King of Shinigami

The King of Shinigami is, at the moment, not featured in any known media to the series, but is mentioned various times. He is often called "old man" by the Shinigami. Supposedly, he was tricked into giving a second Death Note to another Shinigami, Ryuk.

Ryuk

Ryuk is the first Shinigami to go to the human world that we know of. He seems to be young, or just immature, and has a generally sadistic personality as he finds many horrible situations to be amusing, often laughing at them. See Ryuk's full profile here.

Appearances

Shinigami generally look dark and scary for humans. Most common reactions include screaming and panicing. Though some look human-like in anatomy, some others are tall and hunched over (i.e. Ryuk.) There are also others who are made of skeleton limbs with certain animal-esqe shape in the skulls. It's not certain if there are any two who look alike, but it's become clear that they each have a different style to how they look.

Abilities

The Shinigami share similar abilities, so it's not much point in pointing out what each has specifically.

Shinigami Eyes

The Shinigami Eyes are a special form of eyesight the Shinigami have (obviously.) It allows them to see a humans true name and life span just by looking at them. Optionally, they can give that ability to a human who owns a Death Note, but it costs the half the humans life span. Something like this certainly doesn't come cheap.

Flight

Though not considered a special ability, all Shinigami can fly. Usually, their wings are not visible unless they are using them. Although it's not possible to give a human Shinigami Wings, Light has joked to Ryuk saying he would gladly accept Wings over the Eyes, if it didn't cost him anything.

Increasing Life Span

Also not considered a special ability, but when Shinigami write a humans name in their Death Note before they are supposed to die, the remaining life span is added to their own. Although, it's not considered that special among Shinigami.

Weaknesses

There are no fully known weaknesses among the Shinigami, but there are a few things.

Apples

This weakness applies for Ryuk so far since he's the only 'victim'. He claims that when Shinigami don't have any apples for a while, they get withdrawal symptoms which include contorting their bodies and doing handstands at random. Due to how completely ridiculous this sounds, it may just be a lie, or just something that happens to Ryuk.

Death

Although a Shinigami cannot be killed by a Death Note, if they happen to use it to kill a human in order to save another human, they seem to disintegrate and die. It's been said that once they die, their original remaining life span will be passed on to the human they saved, in order to make sure they live longer. This doesn't appear to be a well known fact, since not many Shinigami will aid humans in the first place.

Personality

Most Shinigami are, from first glance, considered 'evil'. They can be completely careless about humans, but they do care for one another in some way. Depending on what type of history they have with one another, they treat each other like friends. Some even spend time together gambling and having fun, as if just like normal people.

Ryuk is a fine example of carelessness - He looks out for himself and even though he is a friend to Light, he isn't going to help him out in any specific way. He is only in on his plans because he finds it amusing and interesting to watch.

Ethics

Possibly one of the most interesting things about Shinigami is that they have their own ways of handling human affairs. From what we gather with Ryuk, he will not tell Light whether he is doing something wrong or not, nor will he try to take sides with anyone in order to help for good or evil. This shows us that Shinigami, more or less, believe in staying on the sidelines and not get involved with humans battles. They will not kill in order to aid another human (mainly because it can kill them), or reveal anything they are not supposed to tell (although Ryuk makes many points clear just by writing the rules and facts of the Death Note.)

In some strange way, Shinigami are pacifists when among humans - They do not wish to fight in terms of arguing or physical combat. Considering how they are unable to be touched by humans, the latter is of no trouble to them.

Summary

After the anime ended, a TV special aired in Japan which was a recap on the first 25 episodes of the story, the entire L arc. They were recapped by Ryuk, who was speaking to a fellow Shinigami in the Shinigami world about his time spent in the human world. The Death Note is a notebook owned by Shinigami, Gods of Death. Their notebooks allow them to kill any human as their name is written within it, by heart attack or any specific death written.

The human whose name is written in this note shall die.

This notebook will not take effect unless the writer has the person's face in their mind when writing his/her name. Therefore, people sharing the same name will not be affected.

If the cause of death is written within 40 seconds of writing the person's name, it will happen. If the cause of death is not specified, the person will simply die of a heart attack.

After writing the cause of death, details of the death should be written in the next 6 minutes and 40 seconds.

This note shall become the property of the human world, once it touches the ground of (arrives in) the human world.

If the cause of death is written within 40 seconds after writing the cause of death as a heart attack, the time of death can be manipulated, and the time can go into effect within 40 seconds after writing the name.

The human who touches the DEATH NOTE can recognize the image and voice of its original owner, a god of death, even if the human is not the owner of the note.

The person in possession of the DEATH NOTE is possessed by a god of death, its original owner, until they die.

If a human uses the note, a god of death usually appears in front of him/her after he/she uses the note.

Gods of death, the original owners of the DEATH NOTE, do not do, in principle, anything which will help or prevent the deaths in the note.

A god of death has no obligation to completely explain how to use the note or rules which will apply to the human who owns it.

A god of death can extend his life by putting human names on the note, but humans cannot.

A person can shorten his or her own life by using the note.

The human who becomes the owner of the DEATH NOTE can, in exchange of half his/her remaining life, get the eyeballs of the god of death which will enable his/her to see a human’s name and remaining lifetime when looking though them.

A god of death cannot be killed even if stabbed in his heart with a knife or shot in the head with a gun. However, there are ways to kill a god of death, which are not generally known to the gods of death.

The conditions for death will not be realized unless it is physically possible for that human or it is reasonably assumed to be carried out by that human.

The specific scope of the condition for death is not known to the gods of death, either. So, you must examine and find out.

One page taken from the DEATH NOTE, or even a fragment of the page, contains the full effects of the note.

The instrument to write with can be anything, (e.g. cosmetics, blood, etc) as long as it can write directly onto the note and remains as legible letters.

Even the original owners of the DEATH NOTE, gods of death, do not know much about the note.

You may also write the cause and/or details of death prior to filling in the name of the individual. Be sure to insert the name in front of the wriiten cause of death. You have about 19 days (according to the human caledar) in order to fill in a name.

Even if you do not actually possess the DEATH NOTE, the effect will be the same if you can recognize the person and his/her name to place in the blank.

The DEATH NOTE will not affect those under 780 days old.

"Suicide" is a valid cause of death. Basically, all humans are thought to possess the possibility to commit suicide. It is, therefore, not something "unbelivable to think of".

Whether the cause of the individual’s death is either a suicide or accident. If the death leads to the death of more than the intended, the person will simply die of a heart attack. This is to ensure that other lives are not influenced.

Summary

One day on campus, L/Ryuga asks Light to join him in a tennis match so they can get to know each other. Light wonders if he knows what he's up against, when L points out he lived in Britain for five years, where he was a Junior Champion in tennis. Although they act like friends on the outside, L plans to use this friendly game as a way to see if Light is Kira since he came to the assumption that Kira hates to lose. Meanwhile, things are rough at the police department with how L wants to keep the investigation a secret from everyone outside of the task force, but things seem to be at ease for now... After six matches of tennis, Light wins against L in tennis. Even though they're speaking to each other on common ground, they suspect each other to be their main target on the inside, and both come to the conclusion that in order to uncover each other's identity, they will have to go to task force headquarters where the Kira investigation is taking place...

After the tennis match, Light suggests they go somewhere for a drink and he ask L a few questions. Before this, L assures him that he suspects him to be Kira, only by 1% depending on his reasoning abilities. At a local coffee shop, Light and L sit at a table far from the others so that they can speak in peace. Light decides to leave his questions aside until he's not as suspected to be Kira, so L immediately tests his deduction skills, first by showing him the secret messages Kira made by manipulating the prisoners in previous episodes. Light knows that arranging these coded messages in the right order couldn't be enough to prove that he's Kira, so he does so by reading the message "L, did you know? Gods of Death love apples," but is told he's wrong. L says there was a fourth message, which when combined with the rest says "L, did you know? Gods of Death who love apples have red hands." Light insisted that his guess was close enough, but L said had he known how many messages there were, he would have guessed the message were incomplete, so it seems Light has basically just risen his suspicion.

After a little more talk of deduction skills, L has decided his suspicion is now at 3%, but he's more determined to work with him now because of it. He believes he is in a situation where whether or not Light is Kira, it would still benefit him if they worked together, because he'd either reveal himself or help move the investigation forward. Light uses this to argue by saying that in order to be able to work with L, he must have some sort of proof himself which says he is really L. L thinks of this as a sign that he hates losing and is trying to stall, so now his suspicion went up to 7%, but he says that he would be free to meet the task force members. Light is caught off guard by how willing he is to do this, but before they can discuss things further, both of them get a phone call. It seems that Light's father has just suffered a heart attack, much to Light's surprise since he had nothing to do with it...

It seems his father just had a minor heart attack but is in the hospital, Light and L stayed to watch over him. It appears that this heart attack was just stress-induced, and that he'll be all right. L insists it might have also been because of the stressing thought that Light is suspected to be Kira, to which Light is shocked to hear them sharing this information. His father tells him this guy is the real L, so now Light knows what situation he's in... If he tries to take down L and the other task force members, it would be too much of a foolish move, so for now he'll just have to play the innocent role. Soon enough, L explains where his suspicion comes from, and how Raye Penber was investigating on Light just before he died. Light agrees there must be no other suspect if that were the case, which brings L to another point - Light's deductive skills are very quick and accurate, and having him on the task force would be an excellent move now that Light is certain that L is really L.

After visiting hours were over, Light and L discussed the suspicion that he was Kira. He wanted to go as far as being locked up for a month to see if anything would happen, but L simply says if he's not Kira then it would become apparent no matter what. Taking his leave, Light knows now he wouldn't let the pressure get to him. Now that he knows he's really facing L in person, he has nothing else on his mind but to use the Death Note to make the world a better place. Meanwhile, at the Sakura TV Studio, the director is having trouble coming up with a way to get more ratings, when an opportunity knocks at their door. They received a package with a few audio tapes and a letter - "A message to the world from Kira. If you do not broadcast these tapes, I will kill your company's board of directors one by one." So, if this is real, then the studio is going to make a ton of money on this... This doesn't sound like a move Light would make, so is this really his work...?

Episode 9

Encounter

Summary

While out walking, Ryuk - whose body is contorted due to apple withdrawal - tells Light he's not being followed so he can eat apples. Light seems to still be concerned about last nights news report regarding dispatch of 1,500 investigators, but Ryuk assures him it's a bluff. Meanwhile, L and Mr. Yagami continue watching Light as he comes home. Light is aware that the deaths he caused last night would go noticed as minor compared to what he usually goes after, but he continues to kill them while he's out walking so he doesn't draw any attention by writing the names down at home. After much work reviewing surveillance cameras over both households, L has come to a conclusion - No one in either house appears to be suspicious, and the cameras and wiretaps will be removed.

However, he makes it clear he still believes one of these families has Kira in it, even if it is a 5% chance. L wonders in his mind what Kira is all about, and ponders the thought that it really is some god. But he concludes that it is nothing more than a murderer, and if so, wonders if it would be possible to meet and get to know this murderer in person... The next day, Ryuk notices all the cameras have been removed from the house, but Light continues to ignore him in case there are still wiretaps. Today is a big day for him now since he's going to be taking college exams. He knows that in college, he'll have more time to be Kira and find out L's identity. All seems normal in the exams, but soon a student is spoken to by the teacher for sitting strangely. When Light looks back to see who it is, he sees L himself sitting there, not knowing who he is...

Now comes the day Light graduates, but his glorious day is interupted by talk of afreshman by the name of Hideki Ryuga, the name of a famou singer. Despite the name he used, this was really L going under an alias. It was perfect for him to go in public using an alias since no one at all knew how he looked, so people didn't find anything suspicious other than how he managed to be a high scorer on the exams, second to Light. While sitting down in the crowd beside Light, L speaks to him quietly. He tells him he's impressed by his deduction skills and knows of his interest in the Kira case. Lastly, he tells him he has important information regarding to case as long as he doesn't speak of it to anyone else. Light wonders just who he is, but agrees to keeping a secret. Then, he's told in a few simple words; "I am L..."

Light is utterly shocked by this statement, but he has to remain calm - If this really is L, he has to show him how Light Yagami would act, not Kira. Calmly, he tells him that if he really is L, then he highly respects him. L tells him he could be of help with the investigation, but he thinks he's too perfect. Light continues to wonder the possibility of him being L and why he would be so bold to contact him directly, but he continues to keep his mind clear until after the people leave, just in case L is expecting a freaked out reaction. Saying his goodbye to Ryuga/L, Light gets back home.Light locks himself in his room, and breaks down in anger due to the pressure. If this is the real L, he's bound to be found out soon. But if he were to do the Shinigami Eye trade with Ryuk and try to kill L, it's possible he's just a stand-in like Lind L. Tailor was.

Underestimating L, Light didn't expect this sort of introduction to happen intentionally on L's part, and he's sure L will continue to put pressure on him by pretending to be a college student. Breaking out in laughter, he states he's safe since it proves they have no proof of him being Kira yet, and that he has nothing to worry about if that's the case. On the surface, they'll be friendly acquaintances on college campus, but on the inside they'll be at a constant battlewith oneanother, trying to uncover each other's true identity. What happens next now that L has brought himself to being in public? The battle to find each other has ended, but the war of wits has just begun...

Summary

L and the task force have been watching surveillance video tapes in the late hours of the night, when L requests to see the video tape of Raye Penber boarding the train up to where he gets off and dies. He notices when entering, Raye is carrying an envelope, but not when he leaves. Additionally, when dying, he appears to be struggling to look into the train as if someone was there. L has concluded that Kira may have been on this train, despite how bold it would be. Meanwhile, Ryuk questions why Light is currently scheduling deaths for criminals months in advance. This is because if he were to get into an accident, people would suspect something if criminals stopped dying. Finally, L receives a call regarding the death of Raye Penber's fiancee, Naomi Misora. He recognizes her from "the Los Angles BB murder case," to which he remembers working with her in the past.

Although it's assumed she committed suicide through depression, L insists she was better than this and must have been killed by Kira under the assumption that she foundout something they didn't know. Because of this new development, L tells the task force he wishes to focus on investigating the people Raye Penber was investigating; The Kitamura family, and the Yagami family... He plans to have both homes bugged with microphones and surveillance cameras. While this goes into discussion, Light prepares for further planning by deleting all evidence on his computer, and modifying his wallet so he can carry various clippings of the Death Notes paper with him wherever he goes. Meanwhile, there is controversy among the task force for installing surveillance devices among the households, especially since L is only 5% sure that one of these two families has Kira in them. However, despite that, preparation will begin the next day...

As Light comes home from school, he notices no one is home. And as he goes to his room, he notices something strange about the door. When Ryuk greets him, Light ignores him completely, then gets his jacket and goes back out to take a walk. Upon leaving his room, he places a small piece of paper within the door. Finally, Light speaks to Ryuk while walking around outside, telling him there's a chance someone has been in his room and bugged the area. Although the paper was in his door like he had it, he tells Ryuk that was a fake setup to hide the other security purposes - His door handle is slightly tilted so that he'll know if someone has opened it, and a pencil lead is placed in the door hinge which would break if opened normally. He thinks someone was in his room outside of his family since the paper was still in place, and the other two securities weren't. After buying something from a book store, Light makes a deal with Ryuk - If he wants to be able to eat apples without being caught on camera, he'll have to find out where all the surveillance cameras are located.

As nightfall comes, Light can be seen sitting on his bed, reading dirty magazines, obviously to drive away the fact that he could be hiding something else in his room. Even though Mr. Yagami finds this unbelievable but possible, L thinks it's too suspicious and continues watching. When Ryuk has found a few cameras already, Light knows now that he's being watched, so it's best he remains as normal as possible while he's at home. When dinnertime comes around, L prepares a plan he devised when meeting up with the task force, a television announcement which states that the ICPO is sending 1,500 investigators to Japan to work on the case of Kira's murders. Light realizes this is already another attempt for L to get a response out of him, so he speaks out loud that it's obviouslyvery stupid to announce it and that it's probably just a trap for Kira. After dinner, Light gets a bag of chips and goes to his room to study.

Ryuk, by now, is very tired and has finished checking all the cameras, so he explains what he knows. There are 64 cameras in the room, which Light thinks is to put pressure on him in short time. However, he knows he's a lot better than this and that L won't be putting any pressure on him with all of the surveillance, especially since he's already scheduled deaths for the next three weeks. He believes since L is watching him right now, he'll be able to look completely innocent since these criminals are dying without him ever watching the news to find out their identities. Additionally, Light hid a miniature TV in his bag of chips ahead of time, so he can eat this snack and write names inside the bag, while showing no suspicion whatsoever. The witness to his alibi is L himself, it's the perfect crime...

A few minutes later, Watari reports to L that a couple of criminals have just died of heart attacks, leaving L to believe it's possible no one in the Yagami household could have done this. Even so, he finds them to be just a little too innocent, and wishes to continue the surveillance. The next day, Light throws out the trash, which includes the mini TV hidden in the potato chip bag which costs him $400*, as Ryuk pointed out. Now that Light is fully aware of L's presence, he's going to have to be careful about his next move... But how long will it be before L comes up with a move tooexplicable for him to elude...?

*Although in the English dub Ryuk points out that the mini-LCD TV costs $400 (dollars being American currency), the subtitles stated this was 39,800 yen in Japanese. However, as according to Google's currency calculator, 39,800 yen translates into 381.1646 (or 381) dollars of American currency. This could be a mistake, so please let me know if I'm incorrect.

For DVD's, I'd recommend Discount Anime DVD for... Well, DVD's. It requires registration for purpose of giving you points when you buy things so you can use points to win prizes, but it's still worth it I'm sure. I've already ordered the volume 3 DVD here and plan to pre-order volume 4 as well.

For other merchandise, I'd say Just Manga looks promising. It also sells DVD's, as well as the manga, and even collectables. I don't know what their requirement is if there is registration involved, but I'm sure it shouldn't be any problem.

Episode Viewing

To watch the series online, go to Death Note TV for absolutely free viewing. All episodes in Japanese with subtitles, as well as every episode that has aired in English so far.

Episode Downloads

One quick, free membership to Bleach Network will get you access to all 37 episodes. All of them range in 170 MB of size, and should not be much of a problem for people with an average Internet connection (above dialup.) Although most of the episodes are .avi videos and should play without trouble, some of the last few episodes are .mkv videos, which require a video player such as VLC Player. Most of these translation are good being done by the ever so talented Animanda, whereas some are only fairly decent, but still readable.

Other Downloads

For anything else you may be looking for such as the movies and soundtracks, I would suggest using Torrents. They are like blank file directories that, with a Torrent program, allow you to download the files inside it. Download speed varies on how many people download without re-uploading the same thing, but you can find a lot of results on Mininova. A good Torrent program is also µTorrent.

DeathGod.org: A VERY informative website which has information on all Death Note-related things, as well as various downloads. Though I try to do my best here, I would recommend that website for anyone who wishes to learn things faster.

Summary

The police force now meet the world famous investigator, L, for the first time, and he's nothing like they imagined he would look. Immediately, they start to go over the information they have already, and L warns them to keep all information with them here and not speak of their findings to the general public, and to also call him by the name of Ryuzaki - Just to be safe. L has come to the conclusion that Kira is a childish person because he has challenged all of their tactics such as stating they know he is in Japan. He suggests to announce on TV that there will be 1,500 investigators coming to Japan to search for Kira, in attempt to freak him out and cause him to take drastic actions which will be noticed. However, before taking action, L begins to share more of his thoughts...

He believes Kira works alone. He calculates the time it took between the times the FBI members entered Japan, he learned within a week of their presence and chose to take control of the prisoners, which led to him suddenly knowing information about the FBI agents, thus leading us to knowing that Kira used his ability to control his victims in order to get said information.
Meanwhile, Light is going over his own tactics as well, noticing he's been most active during this week. Knowing also that the only issue in his plans would be if anyone realizes he made contact with Raye Penber, the FBI agent who was following him around.

L is certain that one of the people the FBI agents were watching is definitely Kira, so he provides enough information about each suspect to the police group. L is very serious about this case because it's the first time he has layed his life on the line, and he's willing to prove that justice will prevail no matter what happens. However, even though he trusts the police, he must speak to them each separately in order to determine if any of them are Kira. This is because since Kira has been getting information only the police should have, there is a good chance one of them is Kira, thus, which makes L's presence even more dangerous. L and Light are in similar situations at this moment, knowing they both need to learn just one fact in order to be sure their plans are the right way to go.

Meanwhile... As Light heads to the police headquarters to give his father something, he notices a woman here looking to inform the police about information regarding the Kira investigation, but it seems the police headquarters is empty. Light insists to contact his father for her, so they go on a walk together, discussing the Kira investigation. This woman introduces herself as Shoko Maki, which causes Ryuk to laugh for an unexplained reason. Light suggests Kira may be able to control peoples actions, which causes her to reveal to him that she was thinking the same, as Light assumed she would know. She tells him that someone she knew has met with Kira and died, who happened to be one of the FBI agents who came to Japan. It's become clear now that she is the fiancee of Raye Penber...

She explains how Raye seemed to have died just after he was forced to show his ID to a Kira suspect, thus leaving her to believe the bus highjacking was the result of Kira controlling a criminals actions and causing him to die with something other than a heart attack. It's obvious she knows too much now, so Light is lucky he met her just before she got to the police. Now, he knows what to do next - Take her down before she can share her knowledge with the world...

What is 'Room 1302'?

Truth be told, the website title is kind of a joke - In the Death Note movie, it may be noticed that the hotel room L is staying in during the time he meets the police is room 1302, so I thought it would make a catchy title for a Death Note site. The site title also features L, as to hint to the origin of the site name.

When will you be updating?

There's no set date for updates, like weekly or daily. I just update it when I feel like doing so, basically. Occasionally, I may add one new episode summary, or maybe even three if I have the time. All in all, just keep track of updates and you'll be informed on what's new.

Are the DVD's worth buying?

Well, depends on if you like collecting DVD's of your favorite shows or not. I would say the Death Note DVD's are nothing fancy, they're just good if you missed out on seeing them on TV and you are unable to watch them online. They come with English and Japanese language select, as well as a few special extras like behind the scenes interviews. See the DVD section for more info.

Summary

As the self-proclaimed Shoko Maki walks down the streets with Light, he knows he has no choice but to eliminate her before she can blow his cover as Kira. He asks her for information on her theory so he can write it down to review later, when in reality he is writing down the death he wishes to make her experience - Suicide. As he writes this, Ryuk laughs even more than before, for reasons Light can't figure out. By now, L has finished interviewing all of the task force, and with being convinced that none of them is Kira, he accepts their honesty. Meanwhile with Light, Shoko still feels the need to report to the police about her suspicions of Kira, so Light is counting on her death to coming soon so she doesn't do it. However, she appears unaffected...

Confused, Light wonders why his plan isn't working, until he finally realizes why Ryuk has been laughing all of this time - Shoko Maki is using an alias... Light and Shoko decide to walk back to the police headquarters to see if anyone is there now, and Light begins to worry - He has no real way to have Shoko reveal her real name since he isn't even supposed to know her alias. He may even be forced to push her down and take her purse to see if she has any kind of ID. Ryuk reminds him of the previously stated Shinigami Eye deal, but Light still won't consider it, it would be too much of a risk and waste.

Watari reveals himself to the police force once L has gained their trust, and has also brought a few things for the group, such as new IDs. This is to keep them safe from the possibility that Kira needs a name and face to kill, so each of the police force is protected. They are not to reveal them to other police officers, since such a fake identityis like a crime. Additionally, each of them will wear a special belt which comes with a distress signal on the belt buckle, which when pressed will contact Watari, causing him to call them on their cell phone.

Now, Light has run out of options - He has five minutes to get her real name before she gets to the police headquarters. With only three minutes left, he tells her that no one is at headquarters because they're hiding the fact that they're actually hard at work tracking down Kira, and anyone outside of their remaining group will be told that the headquarters is empty so that Kira doesn't try going there for answers. He adds to this by saying he knows it because he's a member of this task force, and that he can be highly trustworthy since L has approved of him. Still, she wants to visit the headquarters, even with all he said... L has by now become aware that no one is at headquarters, so Aizawa heads down there to aid those still there.

Light tries to tell Shoko that there's no way to meet anyone at headquarters despite what she tries, but she has this feeling L will speak to her directly - Two years in America, she worked with L on a special case as an FBI agent. Light uses this to praise her deduction skills, which becomes less tense and almost saddened because she trusted Light, saying he reminded her of L. Adding to this praise, Light recommends she joins them in working on the Kira case, saying that all she needs is an ID, approval of an existing task force member such as himself, and L's permission. As they discuss whether or not she should join, she finally gives him her drivers license as a form of ID, revealing her real name - Naomi Misora. After writing her name and death down, Light looks at his watch, which Naomi questions him about. He then simply answers; "Because I'm Kira..."

As 40 seconds have gone by, Naomi is suddenly struck with a dulled and emotionless expression, followed by her walking away. Light continues his good attitude by suggesting she can call his father by now, but she ignores it and leaves. What happens to her now will be a suicide act where her body will remain hidden until it's uncovered, and what's important now is Light has no one to blow his cover...
